Abstract Painting and Diptych X39 is a continuing effort and exploration for me with abstract expressionism. When I started to explore abstract painting about three years ago, it made me nervous and uncomfortable to be honest. I had always painted and created my art in a realistic or impressionistic style of painting. Looking back on my experiences and feeling during those first attempts, I realize it was a normal reaction and feeling because it was not something I was familiar with. I was questioning my every stroke of the brush on whether it would look too contrived. I realized with Abstract painting and Diptych X39 that I have grown to love the excitement of fresh white canvas and just letting the strokes and paint randomly fill the canvas with little or no planning. I realized that I have finally realized how much fun this method of painting can be. Although I have always wanted to try different methods and subjects for my painting and not to be typecast of as a landscape painter or painter of only still life. There is nothing wrong with any of these, I just want to keep exploring and be experienced in all genres of painting. So.. sign up for my mailing list and let’s see where I am this time next year with my painting.
