The idea behind my abstract painting with fine lines was to use a limited palette and explore the possibilities of what this would create with overlapping colors. I chose for this project an odd sized canvas because I had visually an idea of what I wanted to create and I wanted the available space to be long and narrow.  For the paint colors I used yellow ochre and several values of blue.  At first I just used one color of blue but I wanted a little more of a contrast so I experimented with some others. The effects of the fine lines of the paint over each other create a change of color in some areas and cause the same colors to intensify.  It is a process that takes a lot of time and a lot of patience. I worked on this painting longer than I have others but felt like it was important for me to learn the nature of this process in paint application.

In evaluation of this project I think I learned some valuable knowledge by trying this approach.  It requires a lot of time so I am not sure I will use it a lot but with all the different ideas I am trying with my painting it is giving me a mental file of different approaches to try in future paintings. By keeping a blog and video diary it will also help me recall the different approaches to painting and hopefully will help other artists in their creative efforts.
