June is quickly coming to an end and although I have been painting almost every day for my #JCW June 12 x 12 Abstract Painting Project. I need to catch up on documenting about this experience. I started on June 1, painting an abstract painting that is 12 x 12 inches using just three primary colors; cadmium yellow medium hue, cadmium red deep hue and windsor blue.  I also used titanium white on some of the paintings.

In this blog post I am discussing the second week of paintings which were Day 8 – 13.  It should be also Day 14 but I just discovered today that I somehow skipped Day 14 so I have to yet paint it.  I will include it in the last group of paintings discussed.  I tried to number the paintings as I went but somehow left Day 14 out of the group.  Thinking about the progression of the paintings, I think it is important to discuss them in the order they were painted. It does make a difference and I can see a change in my painting from the first week.

Before I started these 6 paintings, I looked and tried to evaluate my first weeks efforts. These paintings and an explanation of why I am attempting this project can be found on my first blog post about this event.  I felt that some of them were too dark and wanted to try and lighter approach with these and I think I accomplished that.  I still used the same three colors and white but just used more water and thinned down the paints a lot.  I did not plan or sketch each painting except for just planning to make them lighter than my first week’s work. One of the wonderful advantages to acrylic paints is that they can be used thick or thinned down to a watercolor type of consistency but yet are permanent.

All things considered I felt I made a lot of progress during this second week.  I made some discoveries about my work and tried a few new painting processes. #JCW June 12 x 12 Abstract Painting Project Week 2 was a success for me as fara as trying different approaches to the project and I felt satisifed.

All of these paintings are for sale for $100 each. Please contact me if interested.  My shopping cart for this website is under construction.  You can use the contact form below.  Please leave me a comment and let me know your thoughts for #JCW June 12 x 12 Abstract Painting Project. Why?
