My Mercier’s Lake Acrylic Landscape Painting was the creation I wanted to paint to relive the great time I had at Merciers Orchards in north Ga near Blue Ridge. My sister and I love to visit their general store. The fresh tomatoes, peaches, apples and other seasonal vegetables and fruits are a special treat. All of the produce comes from their own orchards on the premises. You can choose to pick your produce yourself or buy it from the store. They carry many varieties of peaches and apples and have samples of each variety for you to sample. If this isn’t enough, they make their own ice cream and fried pies. Many other gift items and interesting articles are for sale in the store. Mrs. Mercier worked in the store everyday until she passed away in 2013. She was in her 80’s. She had moved to BlueRidge, Ga with her husband in 1943 when they bought the 27 acres where the store and orchards are now located. The business is the largest employer in this small mountain community beside the county school system employing around three hundred people.
My sister and I had enjoyed a full day of seeing all the color of the leaves ablaze with brilliant color in the surrounding area. We had visited the general store and purchased our usual fresh produce, and fried apple pies.Although I have been there several times, I made a reference photo that was used for this painting. On our way to the car I noticed the view by the lake and snapped the photo. This painting is available in the gallery on this website and is $200.00 It measures 16 x 20 x .25 inches and has wrapped and painted edges. No frame is necessary but can be framed if you choose. Any visit to Mercier Orchards is special but this visit also inspired me for my Merciers Lake Acrylic Landscape Painting.
