I am proud to announce that I did finish my new project, the painted piano is finished and delivered to its new home. After working on it for almost 2 1/2 months I did reach my goal of having it finished for Lilburn Daze, a local arts festival that is located in the same park that is now home for the piano. The piano was picked up by the city workers the day before the festival and put in place for the event.
The day of the festival was begun with a beautiful rainbow that ended over the stage area where the piano now has residence. It was a beautiful sight and made me so happy. During the opening ceremonies an orchestra performed and I was introduced by Mayor Johnny Crist. The piano was unveiled to the community. It was a proud moment for me and I was proud to be a part of this community project and event.
I was also fortunate to have a young man, Stephen Hamilton, volunteer to be the first one to play the piano on that day. Stephen is a young man from Winder, Ga and grandson of Peggy Sullins, artist and President of Lilburn Arts Alliance. He is a talented pianist and explained to me that he plays totally by ear and loves to play beautiful music. His ambition is to be a concert pianist. It was a great thrill to see him sit down at the piano and play his music for all to enjoy.
I thought this was the end of the story about my painted piano. Then about a week or so later I saw a comment on my other website that the owner that donated the piano had posted. I had not known who donated the piano and wanted to give credit to the person, but was not provided that information. She said she was at Lilburn Daze and had seen her piano that I had painted and was so proud of it. She also added that the piano is 55 years old! I thanked her for contacting me and will keep her name private since I don’t know if she prefers to be anonymous, but it was the perfect ending to My New Project- Painted Piano Finished.
I am offering prints of the side panel for sale for $25.00 unframed, 11 x 17 inches. Please contact me if interested.
