It has been awhile since I updated this blog with my new pencil, colored pencil drawings. Until 2015, I had only been blogging and posting images about my paintings, but last year I became interested in drawing portraits in pencil and colored pencil. It was an interesting venture from my painting in watercolor and acrylics. I began a project on drawing portraits of rock star musicians and then also rock star musicians that are also artists. I moved on to trying portraits of children in colored pencil. In some of these portraits I also included the children’s pets. I return to these mediums periodically and would like to show you the drawings I have done since my last blog post about this medium.
Switching mediums that I create my art with keeps it interesting and challenging. For me I cannot imagine having to paint the same subject matter such as still life or landscapes and only using paint. It is much more fun to shake it up a bit. I like to paint with both watercolor and acrylics, but I do not like oils. I learned to paint with oils as a kid when I was taking private art classes but the smell of the turpentine gave me headaches and I hate how long it takes them to dry. It is a matter of preference however and all artists should choose what works best for them.
This has been a learning experience for me working on these new Pencil, Colored Pencil Drawings. With each additional one I complete I feel a sense of accomplishment. Please leave me a comment on the form below with any comment you might have or questions. All original drawings are for sale and are also available as prints.
