Petrichor Abstract Collage

Petrichor Abstract Collage is a collage I created using painted tissue paper. It is a process that is tedious to say the least. I became interested in using tissue paper in college after trying a number of different materials in my artwork and collage. It is very difficult to work with but worth the the effort when you view the results. If you have too much liquid, water or liquid adhesive, on your brush it will dissolve before your eyes. I had thought that colored tissue paper, which is abundant and cheap would be an excellent source of material, but I read that Eric Carle, the famous children’s author and illustrator had said that colored tissue paper fades and it is better to paint it. As it turned out there is a trick to this procedure also and it can be difficult until you master the technique. Petrichor Abstract Collage was created on a gallery board which is a hard surface. It measures 11 x 14 x 1 1/2 inches and has painted edges. No frame is needed and it is ready to hang.
