The idea for my rockstar portraits project began when I was thinking about my website and realized that I had not drawn rock star portraits. I realized that of the different categories of art I have represented, I did not have any representation of portraits and figure studies.  I thought a fun way to jump right in would be to create some pencil rockstar portraits since I love music and know a lot of other people do also. This was several weeks ago and I was behind on blogging and writing about my June project and the 12 x 12 painting project I did, so now I can finally begin to explain my rockstar portraits project.

My interest in music was a definite reason for me to spurn my interest in developing a collection of rockstar portraits.  Musicians are another group of creative professionals that I admire. They take their passion and build their lives around it. Like any creative field, it takes determination and courage.  Quite often their fans see the success but do not realize all the years of frustration that preceeded that success.  They are living their dreams which is something that most people wish they were also.  The musicians I choose for the rockstar portraits are ones that I have admired for many years but also I am seeking more current ones also to give a range to the collection.  I choose to use pencil only on these portraits  so that they would all be uniformly in black and white. Mechanical pencils are my favorite pencil to use and a kneaded eraser is my necessary tool of the trade also.  I will continue to add some more but have thought of an idea to expand this theme.  For the next couple of weeks I will be doing portraits of musicians that are also artists.  Check back here on my blog to learn about the featured musicians that are also artists, hear their music and view their art.

All of these rockstar portraits are for sale as prints for $20 each and are signed and numbered by me.  They are listed in the SHOP section of this website and you can also contact me on the form below. Please also leave a comment. I would love your feedback.
