Sometimes art gives you a surprise if you allow yourself to be creative and be open to experimenting. I started the painting featured in this week’s blog/video late at night with no idea or plan in mind except that I wanted to use some left over paint before I went to bed so I would not waste it. I did add a new acrylic paint that I like a lot, unbleached titanium.  It mutes the colors and creates some very nice tones.  The other acrylic colors I used were cobalt blue, cadmium deep red, and cadmium yellow medium.  Since I usually paint with intense colors this was a nice challenge for me.  I like to quickly cover the canvas with what ever motion I feel at the time.  Then I  think about it a bit and come back to it for a fresh perspective.  Then refine it as I evaluate what areas might be unbalanced in color or design.  Sometimes a painting emerges quickly for me as this one did and sometimes it takes longer for it to come into its own fruition.
