As I have explored with my art during the last 4 years after I retired, I have tried abstract paintings, collage, and portraits, but every once in a while I like to return to painting flowers and nature as I have with my botanical orchids paintings series.  My love for nature still prevails and it comforts me to be in its midst and paint the memories of it. One of my favorite places to visit when I desire an interaction with nature is the Atlanta Botanical Gardens in my hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. I usually visit at least once a year and make many photos. After returning home, I will sit for hours devouring the memories of the beauty that I saw and decide which photos I am the most moved by. I recently completed three acrylic paintings that I had been working on for a couple of months that were from photos I had made during my last visit to the gardens and to the orchid show. These orchids were part of the orchid show in the Fuqua conservatory at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens.  The Fuqua Conservatory is a controlled atmosphere indoors which maintains  controlled humidity and moisture for the orchids and other plants.

These paintings are all the same size, 20 x 20 x 1 inches and painted with acrylic paints on stretched canvas. All are also available on this website in the Gallery section under Florals.  As i write this blog, I feel great pleasure and pride in completing this Botanical  Orchids Paintings Series and realize that one of my favorite subjects to paint will always be nature and flowers.
