It took me awhile but I finally got around to finishing Cluster Shells 2 Painting. It is the second painting that was inspired by several visits to Florida I had last Fall.  Although I grew up in Florida from the time I was 8 years old to an adult, I think the beach and everything associated with it became common place to me. Now when I visit after being away from it over 30 years, I find new wonder in the ocean, beach, shells and the way of life associated with it.  I have found as I travel each place I visit it the environment is unique in its own way and it is reflected through the local art. People are proud of their surroundings and local artists strive to convey this through their artistic expressions. The hotel I stayed in Amelia Island showcased local artists paintings in their lobby.  I was quite impressed and It was a very nice touch to compliment my tourist experience.

This experience gave me the idea to create some regional paintings of where I travel. Pleine air painting is nice but is not always feasible when traveling when time is limited. So much to see and so little time. Capturing the moments with my iPhone or iPad though has become a big hobby and I love to review the photos to bring back the memories of each beautiful scene. Besides time constraints, weather conditions may not always be favorable to painting outdoors for long periods of time.

The ocean has its own mystery and intrigue. The fact that the shells are homes to little creatures that use them both for comfort and protection is so fascinating to me. Nature has provided what is needed and in a decorative way also. Shells are something so simple but yet very complex when you think the intricate design of nature to provide what is needed for the live inhabitants. Nature and its artistic creation at work, that is what I wanted to convey with my painting, Cluster Shells 2 Painting .
